I’ve been teaching English in Spain since 1995. I’m a Spanish-American, and I realized right from the beginning that I’d never go back to the States. At that time, the industry was not what it is today, and you didn’t need any credentials to do this. I took to it so well that from that time to this, I’ve never needed more than word-of-mouth connections, which I got in spades. I totally agree that at first it seems like a lark, and it gets more complex with every passing year. Over all this time, I’ve had some terrific assignments, like teaching in the Bank of Spain and other financial institutions, the Hotel Palace, and a lot of big corporations. It’s supported my writing (novels, etc.) and given me a great means of accessing Spanish culture and society.

I avoid language academies because they exploit teachers in the worse way. My biggest achievement has been to build up my own private business, and I have a pretty nice, stable life.

I had to look up PMSL - that's a new one for me!

I think I was also PMSL over that plan B thing, if you couldn't tell. Glad I was able to lighten up your day, even if it's at my expense (oh, my life choices 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭)

So funny, and Andy being so polite about it, it was classic gold. I think I know your personality a bit by now, so I knew you would be laughing at the plan b comment, but cos you were sick , it did actually look like you were crying at one point 🤣🤣
