Even the rough outline is brilliant. I like how you open with an insult and end with an insult - sounds like you two have a real 'snark'. (Get it? Does that even work?!)

A real 'snark' indeed, the 'snarks' were flying left and right 😂

"Can I bum a fag"? 😂 I'm usually quite careful and am able to use American/British slang interchangeably, but I slipped once, referring to my 'bumbag' as a 'fanny pack' in front of a (male) British acquaintance 🙈 To say he was amused would be a massive understatement 😂

Really digging the whole arc of meetin through snark on Substack and turning it into podcast content. The language evolution discussion sounds fascinating esp the spill the tea origins bit. Been thinking alot about how slang changes and gets co-opted lately so this hits close tohome.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I find language evolution fascinating, even if it is hard to keep up with the kids and their slang. I learn more from them, I think, than they learn from me.

Is there a difference between ‘spill the beans’ and ‘spill the tea’ I reckon it’s just a generational thing. 😆 The words ‘mother pus bucket’ makes me want to puke 🤮 I won’t enjoy reading that in your next post 😏😅

Daniel Puzzo's avatar

You can blame Lewis for 'mother pus bucket', that was his contribution 🥴

Well now, I can be a tease and say you'll have to listen to find out spill the tea v beans, but that's a bit cruel of me, it's a bloody hour long, who has time for that 😂

I may or may not tell you a bit later 😉

Francis F's avatar

Hahaha , typical Lewis. I will def listen/watch. 😃

Daniel Puzzo's avatar

Oh goodness, no, Francis, save that hour for something better/more useful! 😂 (or at the very least, skip ahead to find the answer to the beans/tea mystery)

😆 you’re so crap at promoting yourself 😆

Believe me I know 😂

So much to be curious about here -- writing erotica? there is niche erotica? spilling the tea, and finding romance in a cemetery. Your life is rich with fiction potential, and yet you mention falling out of love with writing it. Fun post. And I'm looking forward to snollygoster. Perhaps a new word for me to use...

You'd never believe how deep those niches go - when researching self-publishing in general while writing my first book, I spent a ton of time on reddit forums, other writers were so helpful and I did all sorts of deep dives into the sub-genres of erotica. It was mind-blowing!

Ah, now, with that outline...some of that applies to me, some to Caitlin. She's the one who mentioned the potential of finding romance in a cemetery, as well as falling out of love with fiction. Although I didn't mention it during our chat, I see all sorts of fun possibilities with fiction. I'm just trying to get my query package finished up and get my novel off to agents before I start cracking on another novel.
