Good man, I'll add you to the list! What'll the topic be, a history of Brentford?

Ooh, not sure I'd do a full history justice to be honest. I could do something like greatest heartbreaking moments. We have many.

I love the concept of Drinklish Daniel - it’s a goer! I still have nostalgia for our Christmas gin n chat video. And I distinctly remember how professional the whole thing was which makes me think this next venture is bound to be a success. Could you make a course out of them that equated to come kind of CPD? As long as there’s no throwing up, although I’m intrigued by that! Also impressed that you’re doing TikTok 👊🏼

That Christmas gin n chat is what got the ball rolling, that was my first podcast - professional, really? I hardly knew what I was doing (and still don't!). Let's see how long it goes and what it amounts to. I'm glad you're impressed about TikTok because I'm certainly not (haha). I've been causing mischief on IG as well, spouting nonsense on Reels and Stories, badmouthing people, ranting and raving about things. I well and truly - and I cannae emphasise this enough - haven't got a clue what I'm doing 😂

Although you stipulated non-alcoholic libations are valid too, I’d be remiss in not mentioning a psychological experiment where I got paid to get drunk and talk on camera. They wanted to see how young men would react in certain…situations. I had about six shots of vodka and then had to read and watch suggestive stories and videos, then make comments about the female characters. Luckily I never saw what I said! Then for liability they held me for 4 hours to get sober, during which I watched Blade Runner on VHS and some taped sitcoms I think. This was about 2004. I got $50.

Yup, U of Washington. I also signed up for a diesel fumes study back then too but backed out when I found out they were trying to simulate years of working with trucks into a couple of days. Curious to read your guinea pig experiences one day!

That is one of the most incredible experiments I've ever heard of - where can I sign up for one of these now? I would do that in a heartbeat. One of these days I'll have to share my history of being a medical guinea pig (I've done 3 trials).

Holding you for liability is hilarious - was this in the US I take it?

I had no idea "dogme" is the term for the style of film Lars von Trier cultivated... I remember watching "Dogville", convinced I wouldn't make it through the first hour, but I ended up so intrigued that I've since watched it multiple times!

I'm not sure where to start except to say, laugh all you want, your heirs are mine now. MINE I SAY! And I love the Drinkglish concept. After so many years working on English textbooks that just seemed to be the same every time with different illustrations and/or stock photos, this sounds much more real world and fun, and alcohol-infused! I tentatively would like to do an episode with you, I'm sure we have quite a few cross-over topics when I get to thinking about it... cats, books, Torrejón, I did teach English for a year too...

Oh, and I forgot to add to your Note that I loved you publication in The Font as well! So glad they snapped you up! The idioms part in part 2 really made me laugh 😅

If I have any heirs floating about, they're all yours! 😂

One other thing that frustrates me, and I have griped about this a fair bit already - it's not just the dull textbooks, but the social media stuff that's inaccurate, misleading, contrived or just flat out wrong. And I see some really well-polished, technically advanced reels or TikToks that are littered with mistakes, and yet they have so many followers. This kills me. I just want more natural English without tedious grammar examples and cringeworthy content. And I still can't seem to figure out whether language learners are reading much for fun these days.

I shall pencil you in then for a guest appearance!

Glad you enjoyed my Font contribution, I was tempted to tell you right away when they told me, but instead decided to wait until it was officially published, just to be on the safe side.

Yes, please pencil me in! ❤️

I’m not on social media apart from here, but I can well imagine what you describe - it’s, I guess, one of the dangers of free content in general (if not done well)… anyway, I’ll stay out of the debate as I don’t know anything about it, but I am very much inclined to agree with you!

Suggestion: A drink-for-drink read-along of The Thin Man.

That's another great idea out of you, along with the live-stream of writing a novel. I can't recall if I've read The Thin Man. I've read a couple Hammett books but that was ages ago. This is an intriguing concept for sure!
