That was a wild ride! Kids can be shit heads. Sorry about your balls. Coming off your meds cold turkey is 💯 a REALLY BAD IDEA. I hope your head and your balls are feeling better now.

Thanks Sara. The balls have recovered, I believe. As for the head...well, my parents have been here a week (one down, two to go), so my head won't have any peace until they're gone! 😭😂

I feel this deeply - not the balls, the parents. Thankfully mine haven’t discovered my Substack….yet!

Love LOVE this post Daniel!! Kids are little shits at times, so don’t worry about it🫣🤣 she looks so cute, like butter wouldn’t melt. Love the idea of Groucho , can’t wait to read his posts, I love a bit of negativity, it’s healthy , sod all the positivity books and manifesting (never works for me) I’m writing a post about it.

I wanted to learn more about the murder ? And did wonder if something had happened to a family member or close friend. Hope you’re starting to feel a bit better ?

Thanks Francis. She might be cute, but she's a little devil at times! I'm really excited by Groucho too, and hopefully the message will get through and I'll make some sense of his ramblings.

I didn't want to get too much into the murder itself, i figure there are articles out there already, but let me tell what I find frustrating - I posted on FB to get info on what people knew and had tons of responses and then after I wrote the post, barely anyone on FB acknowledged it or read it (from what the statistics/analytics tell me). Oh well, such is life! 😭

So you post your writing on facebook ? Yes that is odd if you didn’t get many views, especially as people seemed to show interest 🤷🏻‍♀️ naught as queer as folk as the saying goes!

This is something that's come up a bit on Substack. Posts on FB or IG or mentions of Substack apparently get suppressed by the algorithm (?), but I try to skirt around this and there's enough people noticing my posts.

I've discussed this with a few people. I have a lot of readers in Eastern Europe who are reluctant to subscribe, say they read my stuff without subscribing, send me FB DMs with their comments - I keep trying to get them to engage more on Substack but they seem sceptical for whatever reason.

Strangely, many of these people then lament the fact they miss some of my posts and then fall behind. There's an obvious solution to this 'problem' 😂

Ok I get that , substack is still relatively new , none of my friends or work colleagues have ever heard of it ! It’s not well known (yet) in the uk

How odd, I wonder what the reluctance is! I know some of my friends feel like substack bombards them stuff and posts that they are not subscribing to? And I’ve had friends tell me , substack is so confusing to navigate and some that say substack is driving them mad 🤷🏻‍♀️ well I tell them , you have to just put up with so you can support me 😆😆 and then I say just turn off your notifications. I do wish everyone who reads a post hearts it though , sadly they just read through the email. What can we do, we can’t force them 🤣😁

I hear all sorts of theories, some being that people in Ukraine don't feel comfortable handing over their email addresses. Others have told me that outside of the Anglosphere, substack is still an unknown. I don't want to get into trouble by saying this (ssshhh!) but there a few Ukrainian accounts I follow and they don't really interact much with their readers outside of posting. There are exceptions, for sure, but many of my comments or notes or DMs are ignored (the same applies to others). I've been told by people to give it time, whereas my millennial friends keep telling me that there's no way you're prying Instagram from our hands, that's where the action is [still] at. There's a core, devoted following who have embraced Substack and are following a few other newsletters, so I'll take the give it time approach.

I'll save this read for later, but thanks so much for the shoutout Daniel! Good to see your logo (ever so slightly)!

I'll make the logo more prominent soon, when Groucho is the primary author of future posts. I'll even add it to his own section too!

Exciting!

Really enjoyed this, Daniel! Also, I'm very impressed that you write so well whilst lurgy-ed up. Get well soon, both head and other areas!

Thank you Jayne, you’re too kind. I’m slightly less lurgy-ed now, so at least I’m making some progress! 😂

100% justified, it's an instinctive reaction and there's no controlling what comes out. I've seen grown men turn into the kid from The Exorcist after taking a hit to the balls the right (wrong) way. Hanging them on the outside is a terrible design flaw.
